The course is structured as a hybrid course, composed of exercises and assignments in Blackboard, along with mandatory weekly virtual classes that take place over zoom with CBT expert Olita Day-Berger.

The first six weeks focus on the basics of CBT, and the remaining weeks teach how to apply CBT skills to the treatment of depression, anxiety, substance use, severe behavioral health issues, children and provide culturally responsive adaptations. Participants emerge with a thorough grounding in CBT methods and the capacity to integrate CBT into their current practices.

Case examples are provided, and participants are invited to present their cases for consultation. Please note, in addition to lectures, and reading, there will be mandatory weekly one and a half hour, live classrooms as part of the learning process, and three video recorded dyad role-plays of CBT sessions.

Participants will need to have a webcam and microphone as well as access to high-speed internet. There is a required textbook which can be purchased online: Cognitive Behavior Therapy: Basics and Beyond (J. S. Beck, Guilford Press, 2020, 3rd edition).
