Certificate Initiative FAQs

What is the program completion deadline?

There are two dates to be mindful of for this Certificate Initiative: March 1st and June 30th.

On February 10, 2023, EOEA announced to ASAP Directors and Training Leads that we moved to a waitlist and set the March 1st deadline. This deadline requires learners to register and at minimum complete the pre-competency self-assessment by the end of the day on March 1st, 2023. If a learner does not meet both criteria, they will be removed from the certificate program.

All registered learners will then have until June 30th to complete all the required courses.

Who is eligible to participate in the EOEA Certificate Initiative Program?

EOEA is excited to offer again the Certificate Initiative in partnership with BU CADER for the aging and disability network staff of Aging Services Access Points (ASAPs).  The ASAP staff eligible for the certificates are CM, RN, OC, I & R, FCSP, PS, GSSC and Elder Mental Health.  Priority is new staff or staff without undergraduate education or extensive experience. COA staff and volunteers are also eligible to participate in this initiative.

What certificate programs are approved for registration?

The two programs that are part of this initiative are:

Do the courses carry continuing education credits (CEs)?

Yes. All both certificate programs carry social work CEs. The Behavioral Health in Aging Certificate also carries nursing CEs. For more information, please visit: https://thenetwork.bu.edu/massachusetts-training-portal/continuing-education-credits/

Is there a deadline to register for the EOEA Certificate Initiative Programs?

No. Registration is now closed. We are currently adding learners to a waitlist and will be inviting learners to register as training slots become available.

Is there a deadline to complete the EOEA Certificate Initiative Programs?

At this time, the goal is to complete certificates by the end of the fiscal year, June 30, 2023.  That deadline provides the learner a little over 5 months to complete a certificate and coincides with standardized completion timeframes. Any changes in deadlines will be communicated to the network if available.

Can I transfer CADER online course credit?

No. EOEA policy for this training initiative does not allow for the transfer of course credit and course swaps.
