How do I register?

For webinars, courses, and certificates, you will have the option to register directly from The Network Learning Catalog course description page.  Click “Register” and you will be guided through the registration process and into the Blackboard Learning Management System for your course. 

New learners will be prompted to create a BU login name and password as part of the registration process.   

Returning learners will be prompted to login with their existing account.

Are CADER courses and certificates accessible to a screen reader?

To support your learning, Blackboard Ultra courses are screen reader accessible. For the best experience with CADER courses and certificate programs, we recommend the following screen readers (which are available at no charge):

  • NVDA can be downloaded for PCs
  • VoiceOver is a built-in screen reader for Macs

While courses are screen reader accessible, Boston University does not provide technical support for screen readers. If you encounter technical problems with your screen reader, please contact the technical support for the screen reader.

Registered CADER learners can access information about Accessibility in the Start Here module upon accessing their coursework in Blackboard.


How do I reset my password?

To reset your password, please go to this BU IT link to initiate the process of resetting your password.

Please note: Please reset your password on a computer.  Passwords should be at least 16 characters long.  Passwords may not be changed on a Cellular network. If BU systems detects the changing IP on the device as suspicious, it will not allow it.

How do I change my username?

What if I need help during my online course?

Help is available by initiating a Learner Technical Assistance Request form at any time during the course.  This form is available in the Blackboard Learning Management System or here.

Technical Assistance is available during regular business hours – Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm EST

How do I add BU email domain to my spam filter to ensure I don’t miss emails?

If you’d like assistance adding the BU email address to your spam filter, please call BU IT Help Center 617-353-4357 or

The system is not allowing me to register. I clicked on the link in the email to set up my password, it asks me to answer my security questions. The system is saying my answer is incorrect. What do I do?

Please reach out to or 617-353-4357 for assistance to access your existing BU Web Account or to complete registration.

My screen displays a rotating purple circle when I try to access my course in Blackboard.

This may be a web browser cache issue.  Here are a few options:

1. Clear your cache:  Follow these instructions in order to clear your browser cache, and then try to log back in to access Blackboard:

2. Try a different web browser:  Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Edge are recommended.

3. Use your web browser in a private “incognito” window: if you are using Chrome, use the shortcut CTRL SHIFT N to launch the private window; if you are using Firefox, use the shortcut CTRL SHIFT P to launch the private window.

I am receiving a Blackboard error message to contact the administrator when I try to access with my BU username and password.

We typically see this when a learner has either not completed their registration or finalized their account.

Please follow these steps to resolve this issue:

1. Check your email inbox (spam folder, or if using Gmail, check Promotions tab as well). If you did not receive a system confirmation email from Boston University CADER <> with a link to access Blackboard, then you have not completed your enrollment process (by not submitting the Profile step).

2. To complete your Profile, go to the Learning Catalog page of your course, webinar or certificate and click on the Register button. The system will take you back to where you last left off,  and prompt you to follow instructions to submit the Profile to finalize enrollment.

Please be sure not to save your password in the browser. For security reasons, Blackboard does not allow access if a password was saved in the browser.
