Megan Nizza, LMSW, is a doctoral candidate at Boston University School of Social Work and Research Fellow at Boston University’s Center for Aging & Disability Education & Research (CADER), focusing on aging, social policy, and program development. She is a Predissertation Fellow with the Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work (AGESW) and a mentee in the National Center on Elder Abuse Mentorship (NCAEM) program. Megan’s research centers on the identification, intervention, and prevention of elder mistreatment. Her work emphasizes workforce capacity building and innovative community-based behavioral health strategies. She is currently exploring the impact of interprofessional training programs designed for home visit assessments and interventions targeting hoarding disorder among older adults.
Megan is particularly passionate about exploring the intersections of ageism and elder mistreatment, the social determinants of elder self-neglect, and supporting older adults in their communities.
