The Center for Aging and Disability Education and Research (CADER) at BU School of Social Work (BUSSW) partnered with the City of Salem to develop a three-part, community-driven campaign to spread awareness of the mental health challenges older adults experience. Developed by Bronwyn Keefe, director of CADER and The Network at BUSSW, Annalee Wilson, CADER evaluation and workforce training manager, and Megan Nizza (BUSSW PhD’27), the program will help Salem professionals better address the needs of older adults in the community and give older adults the skills to care for their own mental well-being.

Excerpt from “Brink Bites: From Microscopic Worlds to Cancer Disparities” by Andrew Thurston:

“The first part of the BU-developed program includes a community-wide awareness-raising campaign on topics such as social isolation, substance use, and mental wellness, followed by health and well-being workshops for older adults. The final piece will involve BU experts taking senior center staff, city employees, and other professionals through CADER’s Behavioral Health in Aging training.”
