How do I reset my password?

To reset your password, please go to this BU IT link to initiate the process of resetting your password.

Please note: Please reset your password on a computer.  Passwords should be at least 16 characters long.  Passwords may not be changed on a Cellular network. If BU systems detects the changing IP on the device as suspicious, it will not allow it.

Click here for more detailed instructions on this process.

How do I change my username?

Your BU account username is your email address. If you no longer have access to the email address you previously used to register for a BU account, contact the BU IT Help Center at 617-353-HELP or ithelp@bu.edu.

How do I pay for my course or webinar?

During the registration process, payments for any webinar, course, or certificate program are securely processed via a third-party payment system, Nelnet. This system (Neltnet) accepts AMEX, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover.

We also can invoice groups for payment through our invoicing system. If you would like to be invoiced, please use our Learner Account Assistance form.

How much time does each course require?

Each course has an allotted number of Continuing Education (CE) credits, which are based on the hours required to complete the training.

A live webinar would typically require 1-3 hours.

Online courses which are asynchronous and self-paced, typically take 3 to 4 hours to complete, and vary by course.

Certificate programs, which contain several self-paced courses, require a 15-24 hour commitment, depending on the subject.  For more specific information on each offering, please refer to the Learning Catalog listing.

How long do I have to complete my online course?

Learners will have one year from the enrollment date to access and complete their course content. We highly recommend that learners aim to complete their program within 6-9 months of enrollment. There is a $100 extension fee for an additional 60 days of access. To purchase an extension, please complete this request form.

Although the general completion policy is one year from date of invoice, agencies/organizations and states often require or limit the completion deadline. Please check with your Training Lead.

Are CADER courses and certificates accessible to a screen reader?

Blackboard Ultra courses are screen reader accessible. For the best experience with CADER courses and certificate programs, we recommend the following screen readers (which are available at no charge):

  • NVDA can be downloaded for PCs
  • VoiceOver is a built-in screen reader for Macs

While courses are screen reader accessible, we encourage learners that need additional support to contact the BU Office of Disability & Access. Boston University does not provide technical support for screen readers. If you encounter technical problems with your screen reader, please contact the technical support for the screen reader.

Registered CADER learners can access information about Accessibility in the Start Here module upon accessing their coursework in Blackboard.

What kind of CEs do you offer?

The Network for Professional Education at Boston University School of Social Work, is an approved provider for continuing education from several different accrediting bodies, both nationally and locally.

If you are a learner participating in one of our online courses, certificates or webinars, please refer to our Learner section on Continuing Education Credits for specific information on CEs for social workers, mental health and healthcare professionals.

If you are an organization in Massachusetts that is interested in sponsoring your own training program and would like to apply for our CE Approval Service, please refer to our section For Organizations to learn more about our CE Approval program.

For Massachusetts organizations applying for a CE Program, our CE application reviews are intended to ensure that the program meets the criteria for Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers (LICSWs), and Licensed Social Workers (LSWs) practicing in Massachusetts

How do I receive my CEs?

For online courses or certificates: Once the program is completed, you are required to submit the pre-course competency, pass the course quiz, and submit the post-course competency in order to earn the stated CE credit hours. Once these have been completed, you will be able to access the CE form in our system and complete the certificate with your personal information to save and/or print the Certificate.

For webinars: you will need to pass the post-test quiz with a score of 70% or higher, and complete an evaluation on the program in our Blackboard Learning Management System. Once these have been completed, you will be able to access the CE form in our system and complete the certificate with your personal information to save and/or print the Certificate.

If you are a licensed social worker and would like to get CEs for a recently completed training, please complete this form.

If you are an Organization applying for CE credits for your program, please learn more about our CE Approval Service among our other services for organizations.
