The Network for Professional Education Launches Spring 2025 Webinar Series

The Network for Professional Education at Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) offers a series of webinars to enhance social work practice beginning this spring. Led by BUSSW alumni and Network experts, these professional learning opportunities cover timely subjects including social isolation in older adults, polypharmacy, and dementia.  

4/24: DBT – Understanding & Implementing Skills for Dialectical Behavior Therapy 

Dialectical Behavior Therapy offers a multitude of benefits to clients, helping them manage emotions, cope with distress, and develop healthy communication strategies. In this session, participants learn about the biosocial theory behind DBT and discover how to apply DBT skills to their practice.

6/11: Decoding Dementia: Understanding Responsive Dementia Behaviors as Communication 

Join Lisa Fagan Walts (MSW’15) as she walks participants through the different stages of dementia and how the disease impacts a person’s ability to communicate. Attendees will learn how to shift communication strategies to better meet the needs of people living with dementia.
